Mr Richard Wambugu was born in 1959. He attended Nyeri High School and later proceeded to pursue a degree course in Mathematics at Kenyatta University, which he completed in 1984.

Mr Wambugu taught mathematics at Jaribuni Secondary School in Kilifi from 1984 to 1987. He then joined Highway Secondary School in Nairobi where he was the Deputy Principal from 1988 to 2001. In 2002, he went on to become the Principal of Dandora Secondary School and stayed there until 2005. Mr Wambugu became the Principal of Eastleigh High School in January 2006.

As a teacher of mathematics and as the Principal, Mr Wambugu has made every effort to ensure that the school makes progress to regains its past glory. He believes in creating and promoting a favourable working environment for the students, teachers and all staff at the school. He has invested heavily in textbooks and laboratory equipment. He has maintained a high level of pupil behaviour and discipline. This has consequently seen the school record their improving academic performance at Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education in December 2006.

Mr Wambugu has prepared a long-term school action plan to monitor progress and ensure improvement in order to join the league of the top schools in Nairobi in the next 5 years. We wish Mr Wambugu and everyone at Eastleigh High School every success!
