In 1954 Mr Shukla was awarded a Government scholarship to study in the U.K. He obtained a B.A. (Hons) Degree in Geography at the University of Swansea. On his return to Kenya, he was posted to Eastleigh Secondary School, Nairobi as a senior Geography Master.
Mr Shukla's work at Eastleigh was extremely satisfactory. He ran a most efficient Geography department and in addition taught English and History to School Certificate level. Apart from his teaching duties he organised a number of extra-curricular activities. He was in charge of a most active Geography society and was at various times, school librarian and organiser-in-charge of the Duke of Edinburghh Award Scheme.
Mr Shukla had a considerable administrative ability and has acted as Headmaster and also Deputy Headmaster during 1965.
Mr Shukla can look back on his career in Kenya with satisfaction and I am certain he will make a success of his life in the United Kingdom.
