Pradip Buddhdev (1966 - 1969)

I was born in Saba Saba, a small town 40 miles north east of Nairobi, Kenya, on thirteenth of June 1951. I went through my primary education in Saba Saba and Nairobi. I joined Eastleigh Secondary School in 1966 and completed my ‘O’ Levels in 1969.

I moved to England in the same year and did my ‘A’ Levels in London. I joined the University of Sheffield in 1971 and graduated as a dentist in 1976. After qualifying, I did my national boards in the U.S.A. and worked for three years in London and Welwyn Garden City. I moved to Germany in 1979. After working as an associate for a year in the north of Germany, I opened my own practice in 1980 in the town of Worms, an hour south of Frankfurt. After working on my own for approximately twelve years, I was joined by my nephew and later on by a German dentist. I retired towards the end of 2012 at the age of 61.

In the last five years, my German wife Gerlinde (whom I met at university in Sheffield) and I have been involved with doing voluntary work at a school near Chennai, India - and in helping migrant families in Germany in the process of integration. We have two children, Sita and Nikesh. Sita is working as a G.P. in a group practice in New Haven and lives in Hove, Sussex, UK. Nikesh is in the process of completing his residency in Radiology in Germany.
