| Exam Year 1957 - ESS Magazine 1958 |
"Although perhaps, examination results may not be the yard-stick by which a school should be judged yet this year ours have been so exceptional as to merit a special mention.
…… a pass percentage of 79.1, the highest so far attained by any Government Asian School in the Colony. Last year this figure was 61% which at that time was also the highest in the Colony. I am particularly pleased to inform you that we secured three "Very Goods" (Distinctions) in English Language as well as 47 credits and 41 passes, making a pass percentage of 83 in English Language. I think most of you here will realise how remarkably good these figures are in a subject which is normally the stumbling block for Asian Schools. I am most grateful to the staff in their effort to make the achievement of these results such a conspicuous success. As I remarked last year on this same occasion, here we have a staff which works happily together and knows the value of team-work. They deserve my congratulations." Mr. K Lal, Annual School Prize Giving Day
"On the academic side, our school has once again surpassed all others. To be frank, except for the unimaginative name of our school, which prevents it from receiving the great respect it deserves, we dare say that there is not a soul left without a word of praise for us when it forms the subject of conversation at meal times. We have overheard people saying, "Eastleigh has again done it." Yes, this was not only the second but the third time that we topped all Government Asian School in the Senior Cambridge results. This year we were exceptionally good. We secured 79.1 percent passes." Editorial
"13th February was a great day for it was then that the Cambridge Overseas School Certificate examination results were out. Our School secured a pass percentage of 79.1, a figure never achieved before by any Asian School in the Colony." From School Notes by V S Bhardwaj |
