I was born in Nairobi and did my primary education at Khalsa Boys and Girls School. My secondary education at Eastleigh High school was from year 1968 to 1971.
I was the President of the school Geographical Society, a member of the school photographic society and I represented my house Niger at cricket, hockey and athletics. My best friend at school was Rakesh Sharma and the teachers who inspired me most were Mr. T C Sharma, Mr. Panesar and Mr. Xavier DeSouza. The four years at this school are the most memorable years of my life.
I completed my A levels at Jamhuri High School where I was a school prefect and also the Head Librarian. I operated the school public address system during the morning prayers.
I came to the UK to join my parents in 1974. After finishing my university course, I joined Tektronix/Fluke as an electronics engineer and have been with them since 1978. Being a field engineer, I spend most of my time in Europe and the Middle East. I plan to retire next year after nearly 40 years of service.
I am married to Shashi and we have been blessed with two sons and two grandchildren.
We are deeply saddened to say Uttam Pawar expired in 2019. May his soul rest in peace!
