I was born in Kisumu and was brought up in Nairobi. I was educated at Juja Road Primary and ESS. I was in Congo House and played hockey and volleyball for the House teams. I have fond memories of my school days.

I left ESS in 1957 and I completed a teacher-training course during 1958/9. I taught in various primary schools and also some secondary schools, including ESS. I was the first student from ESS to become a teacher in the same school.

I came to the UK in 1964. After completing a course in Business Studies, I joined the civil service. I had a successful and satisfying career.

I am married to Jasbeer and we have 2 children, who are both married. We are proud grandparents and live in Ilford, Essex. I am enjoying my well-deserved retirement, and getting involved in charity work through Redbridge Lions Club. I send my good wishes to everybody and hope it will be a memorable day for each one of you.

We are deeply saddened to say Kuldip Singh Summal expired on 9th February 2023. May his soul rest in peace!
