Dear colleagues
It is with deep regret that we bring to you the sad news of the passing away of one of our alumni, Davinder K Sharma.
I first came in touch with him as a cricketer when he played for the Combined Kenya Schools against a very good overseas visiting side when he scored a brilliant 80 and he was only 17/18! I was always proud of his achievements and learned a great deal from him as a cricketer and an opening batsman myself. Meeting him again at the ESS Reunion was a delight! He was always friendly, helpful and very popular with his mates. Sadly he is no more. Davinder is survived by his wife Kathleen and daughter Elizabeth and son Sandeep and daughter Lina from his first marriage.
All we can do is pray that the Almighty gives the family the strength and the courage to overcome their loss. May Davinder's soul rest in peace!
With kind regards and best wishes
Jayant Tanna -

His Profile:
I was born in Nairobi and educated at City Primary, Government Primary, Delhi Road Primary, Racecourse Secondary and Eastleigh Secondary. After doing my teacher's training course, I taught at Kiambu and Limuru. I came to the U.K. in 1967 and worked for the Post Office until I retired as Productivity Manager in 1992.
You all may remember me for representing schools and colleges at Cricket against many touring teams and also playing against India, Pakistan, Aden and South Africa (captained by D'Oliviera). Hockey was also top of my list.
When I retired I took up golf and I'm proud to say that I now play off Handicap 7. Next year I will have the honour to be the Captain of Hartswood Golf Club, where I have been a member for the last 11 years.
I am married to Kathleen and we live in Upminster, Essex with our daughter Elizabeth. It will be a pleasure to meet all the mates, not forgetting the wonderful staff we had. |
