I was born in Nairobi, Kenya, educated at Eastleigh Primary and Eastleigh Secondary in Nairobi. I left E.S.S. in 1972 (Form 4A). I arrived in the U.K. in 1974 and did my ‘A’ Levels at Charles Keene College of FE in Leicester in 1978. I did a BSc in Computer Science from Leicester Polytechnic (now De Montfort University) and graduated in 1982.
I have worked in IT, starting as a software developer and progressed to become an IT Manager. I am presently working for Cap Gemini as a consultant specialising in banking IT.
I enjoy hockey, badminton, walking, reading and listening to music. I am married to Gurdeep and we live in Great Glen, south of Leicester, with our son Jeetpal and daughter Amrit.
My four years at Eastleigh were possibly, the best years of my life. I enjoyed sports and played cricket, hockey and volleyball for Nile house. I was a keen Boy Scout and enjoyed the outdoor activities of hiking, camping and representing the Troop in the inter-state competition.
My teachers inspired me to gain the confidence and discipline to achieve a successful career. I fondly remember Messrs Panesar, Kent, Gabri, TC Sharma, Xavier, Hashmi and Oloo.
I keep in touch with a number of friends like ‘Dishae’ Jagdish Singh Lota, ‘Amro’ Amarjeet Singh Panesar, Laly brothers Kulwant, Ravinder and Baldev. I would really love to hear from all ESS pupils who remember me!
Truly a great school, long live all the memories of Eastleigh Secondary School, Nairobi!
We are deeply saddened to say Charanjeet Singh Panesar expired on 2nd July 2020. May his soul rest in peace!
