| Abdul Hamid Choudhry JP (1959 - 1962) |
One of our ex ESS colleagues, Abdul Hamid Choudhry, from the year 1962, unfortunately died in a car crash in Pakistan on Wednesday 25th July 2007, aged 63. Inna lillahe wa Inna alhe rajeoon.
Abdul Hamid Chaudhry had gone to Pakistan on his mission to help the poor and the needy. He had been involved in many projects concerned with alleviation of poverty as well as provision of educational facilities for the poor and the under privileged
He was occupied with opening up hospitals in rural areas as well as in setting up a teacher training college on the lines of KSTC in Nairobi. After meeting the Governor of Punjab and acquiring the necessary consents for further projects, he was returning to Islamabad on his way to the UK. It was then that he met with a tragic road accident and died instantly along with his cousin Abad Ali and his nephew Mohammed Rashad!
Abdul Hamid Chowdry was a prominent local politician and magistrate who worked tirelessly for his community in Rochdale. He lived there with his mother and his only son Javed after the death of his wife. Our condolences go out to his family and friends. May Allah bless his soul and give peace and sabr to his aged mother, his son and rest of the family!
