I was born in Kisumu, grew up in Nairobi and educated at City Primary, Racecourse Secondary and Eastleigh Secondary schools.

I left Kenya in 1965 for the UK to study accountancy and business. Later, I met a Nairobi-born girl, Surinder Grewall, whom I married in 1967. I worked in London for some time and later set up my own business before moving to sunny California in 1980. We have two sons - Ajay (married to Anita) and Rajan. We are blessed with two lovely granddaughters, Aashiyana and Suriyana.

I am saddened to report that my dear wife, Surinder, passed away early this year due to illness. I miss her caring companionship, her sense of humour and devotion to the family. I will cherish the memories of her adventurous spirit of hiking and climbing twice to the top of Mount Kilimanjaro at ages of 17 and 62. Together, we travelled to so many places and countries.

I miss her a lot as her life left me with memories too beautiful to forget.
