| Raghbir Singh Notta (1962-1965) |
I was born in India and moved to Nairobi at the age of 3. I started at Eastleigh Primary School followed by Technical High School in 1962. I went to Highway Secondary School (1966 to 1967) to complete my A Levels. I was a keen sportsman. I held the 440 yards record for several years at Technical high School and was among the 14 players selected to represent Kenya Volleyball team against Korea.
I came to England in November 1967 and qualified in Industrial Electronics at the North East London Polytechnic. After a stint at Thorn Consumer Electronics, I ended up with Marconi Communications Ltd in Chelmsford. I wrote papers on Supplier Management and became a Fellow of the Charter Institution of Quality Assurance. I also became a Registered Lead Auditor of Manufacturing to ISO standards. I served as Honorary Secretary of CIQA, Essex branch. I joined Cable and Wire as a Project Manager in 1978 and became a member of the Association of Project Managers and Nebosh. I retired in 2013 and enjoy Badminton, Golf and travelling.
I am married with three daughters who are also married. We have lived in Wokingham, Berkshire since 1988. We are blessed with the added bonus of enjoying our grandchildren. We are quite heavily involved in local Community work. I am constantly in touch with a few of my old class fellows from all three Schools and look forward to meeting a lot more at the next reunion.
