| Pritam Achal (nee Gharial) (1966-1967) |
I was born in Nairobi and did my primary education at Khalsa Primary School before joining Ngara Secondary School in 1962.
We were the first group of girls at Ngara Secondary when the boys transferred to Highway Secondary School. I enjoyed all subjects at school and loved playing hockey. I left Ngara Secondary with 9 ‘O’ levels.
I completed my A levels at Highway Secondary during the years 1966-67 and graduated at the University of Nairobi. I started teaching at Highway Secondary School in June of 1971 and remained there until February 1984. I joined what was then Oshwal Boys and was involved in setting up ‘A’ levels in the school. The school was re-named Oshwal High School as we started taking girls at ‘A’ level.
I moved to the UK in 1986, continued teaching and retired in 2010. I now do a lot of work for Cambridge International Examinations and am the Principal examiner for one of the papers.
I have 3 children and they are well settled.
