| Krishan K. Vedi (1954 - 1957) |
I completed my primary education at the City Primary School, Nairobi. I joined the then Race Course Secondary School in 1954 and completed the School Certificate Level at Eastleigh Secondary School in 1957. Discarding the Duke of Gloucester School, I joined the newly opened Royal College in Nairobi to do A-Level studies in science subjects for two years.
I then went to Sheffield University to study medicine from 1961 to 1966. I obtained an MB.ChB and worked in a number of Manchester hospitals. I have worked in Oldham as a Consultant Physician since 1977. I specialised Interest in the field of Diabetes, gastro-entomology and neurology. In 1988 I became Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians, London.
We have two sons aged 30 and 28 and a daughter. Sijon has a degree in Philosophy.and Kristan is a medical doctor. Our daughter Laila is also well qualified. My wife Joan, who is a qualified nurse, works part-time. We have lived in Chadderton, a part of Oldham, all this while.
I am now happily retired but work occasional days for the local hospital.
