I was born in Nairobi. I went to Eastleigh Primary school, and then to ESS from 1970-74. I came to the UK to do my A-levels in 1975. I studied Chemical Engineering & Management Sciences at Imperial College and then an MBA at Manchester Business School. I have worked in finance as an investment analyst and portfolio manager in London, and also for 5 years in Abu Dhabi, UAE working for the Investment Authority. I have recently retired.

I have 2 sons, Rohan who is a doctor and Anand who has just completed his A levels.
