I lived in Eastleigh Section 2. I studied in Juja Road Primary School and Eastleigh Primary School. I joined Eastleigh Secondary School in 1961 and finished in 1964.
I consider myself to be very fortunate and lucky to have been taught by very dedicated teachers like Mr Hashmi, Mr. Jones, Mr. Mendonca, Mr. Prichard and others. During the four years, I had made many friends at ESS. I was quite active at school. I was Congo House captain. I played hockey and volleyball for school. I took active part in school athletics. I was the President of the Punjabi Literary Society.
After School Certificate, I joined Highway Secondary for A-Level in 1965. In 1967, I went to India where I did B.Sc. in Zoology, Botany and Chemistry from Punjab University. From 1970 to 1986, I taught chemistry at Technical High School in Park Road, Nairobi.
In June 1986, I came to England and did some courses in teaching ESOL, Literacy and Teaching of Community languages. I also did a Diploma in Interpreting and Translation English/Punjabi/English. I got involved in teaching ESOL skills to adult students under the management of Handsworth College Birmingham and Birmingham City Council.
I am retired now. One of my hHobbies is reading. I struggled to become literate in Hindi and Urdu and enjoy reading books in these languages. Sadly, my wife passed away in 2012. I have two daughters and a son. At present I live with my son in Leamington-spa.
