Nasrullah Khan Moghal MBE (1961 - 1964) |
I was born in Kotli, Pakistan and went to Magadi Primary and Eastleigh Primary before entering ESS. I represented the school at Inter school debating competition on Kenya sound radio.
I am a graduate of the University of Manchester and hold a Diploma in Race & Community Relations from Liverpool University. I am engineer by profession. After working in the gas and computer industries for 25 years, I am now the Chief Executive of Manchester Council for Community Relations, a position I have held for the last 20 years. I work with many institutions and communities to promote community cohesion, including the Manchester City Council and the Greater Manchester Police. I help to organise ADAM Day (an annual event bringing people of faith and non-faith together to celebrate common humanity) and Abraham’s Table by bringing together students from higher education institutions to celebrate diversity in faith and to understand others’ beliefs.
I am a Governor of a high school in Manchester. I chair the Manchester Higher Education and Further Education Muslim Chaplaincy Trust which provides pastoral support to Muslim students. I also chair Voice of BME Trafford, a community organisation. I am a member of the Rotary Club of Manchester Breakfast.
I was an elected member of Manchester City Council for the period 1986-1998. I held the portfolio of Equal Opportunities and Anti Discrimination; I was also the Chair of the Equal Opportunities Committee of the Association of Metropolitan Authorities.
