I was born in Nairobi, went to Juja Road Primary, then Eastleigh from 1964 to 1968, and completed my A-levels at Jamhuri. I came to UK in 1971 with several best friends and still keep in contact with them. I studied medicine in Glasgow and qualified in 1976 and in 1979 I married Irene. I came to London in 1983 to continue haematology, and I became consultant haematologist at Bromley Hospitals, Kent. My main job was looking after patients with different blood cancers and managing a haematology lab.

I have 2 sons. Kiran works for an international company in the city dealing with corporate insurance. Sunil works for Fidelity investments.

I played cricket at ESS and played at club level till recently. I was a librarian and member of several societies at school. I completed the D of E gold medal. Fortunately I have maintained close contacts with my friends (Pradeep, Mahendra, Shashi, Aku, and Sharad). We regularly go on holidays together. We celebrated 50th birthdays together in the Canadian Rockies and 60th on a Nile Cruise. Pradeep and I have organised a few enjoyable get-togethers for the 1968 class. I went part time in 2011 and retired in 2014.

My main interests are golf, which I took up in 2011, gardening, holidays and walking, which I have done in various parts of the world. In addition I work for my hospital's cancer unit charity.
